In West Africa, Griots served as custodians of memory, preserving history, identity and heritage through song and storytelling. They carried the stories that communities entrusted to them, ensuring they would endure across generations.
Today, we carry that tradition forward in a new form. We use fabric as our canvas, threading ancient tales into contemporary streetwear.
The name Alkebulan speaks directly to our roots. Often referred to as one of the oldest names associated with the African continent, Alkebulan reflects a connection to history, identity and origin.
Our logo draws inspiration from the Adinkra symbol Akofena, a symbol associated with courage, responsibility and leadership. It serves as a reminder that the legacies we inherit come with a responsibility to carry them forward.
